“Le soleil est le passé, le terre est le présent et la lune est le future.” (The sun is the past, the earth is the present and the moon is the future.) said American author and existentalist, Paul Auster. Racecar, a creative motion-graphics design studio in Norway, based their first video ‘Kiss’on the idea that a solar eclipse is the moon’s attempt to reach the sun, which forms the perfect love story between the sun and the moon. There is no dialogue to this animation and only has an eerie soundtrack comprised of a song entitled ‘Stille’ by Bendik. A beautiful black and white futuristic-style world reminiscent of Manga-landscapes, shows the sun and the moon as so ‘other-worldly’ that they are almost unrecognisable, exploding into dramatic bursts of light and sparks, they meet with an almost physiological reaction that causes the world to burst into colour. Stunning, breath-taking, goose pimple-making this majestic romance is both chilling and magical and will send shivers up even the most cold-hearted person’s spine.
